Not every child learns best in a large, traditional classroom — and families deserve another option.
Biloxi Bay Academy's Elementary Microschool combines strong academics with small classes, individualized instruction, hands-on learning, and the flexibility to meet students where they are.
Here, teachers have the time to truly know their students — their strengths, challenges, interests, and the ways they learn best — while children have room to ask questions, explore ideas, work collaboratively, and grow into increasingly independent learners.
Education That Meets the Student.
In a traditional classroom, the whole class often has to move at roughly the same pace. In a Microschool, we have the flexibility to do something different.
Our small learning environment allows teachers to understand where each student is academically, recognize strengths and gaps, and adjust instruction accordingly. Students can receive additional support when a concept is challenging and continue moving forward when they're ready for more.
That flexibility also allows us to pay attention to how a child learns. Interests, strengths, questions, and individual learning styles can become part of the educational experience rather than something that has to fit around it.
The goal isn't to keep every child on the same page. It's to keep every child growing.

A smaller classroom doesn't mean smaller expectations. Our Microschool students build strong academic foundations while having more opportunities to apply what they're learning, ask questions, explore interests, and work at an appropriate level of challenge.

Reading, writing, vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and communication skills develop through direct instruction, meaningful practice, discussion, and authentic opportunities to read and write.
🔢 Mathematics That Makes Sense
Students build mathematical fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills through instruction that combines foundational practice with hands-on and real-world application.
🔬 Science & Discovery
Experiments, observation, research, projects, and inquiry give students opportunities to investigate the world around them and develop scientific thinking.
🌎 Understanding Our World
Social studies, geography, history, culture, and community help students make connections between what they're learning and the larger world they are growing up in.
Learning That Doesn't Stay on the Page
Education becomes more meaningful when students have opportunities to use what they know.
In our Microschool, learning extends beyond textbooks and worksheets through projects, experiments, building, research, creative work, discussion, outdoor experiences, and real-world problem-solving.
A science concept can become an experiment. A math lesson can become a design challenge. A question can turn into a research project. An idea can become something a student plans, builds, tests, changes, and tries again.
This approach gives students opportunities to develop skills that reach far beyond a single subject — critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, perseverance, and confidence in their own ideas.
We don't just want students to remember what they've learned. We want them to know what to do with it.
